Wood Buffalo Environmental Association appoints Director of Operations

Fort McMurray, Alberta – The Wood Buffalo Environmental Association (WBEA) is pleased to announce a new addition to their senior staffing complement. Mr. Sanjay Prasad has been appointed as Director of Operations for the Association.

Mr. Prasad has a great deal of experience that pertain to his new role at WBEA, including air quality monitoring, data quality assurance, project management, public and stakeholder consultation, contract management, strategic planning and budget stewardship.

Mr. Prasad has a long work history with WBEA, beginning in 1999 when he worked as a WBEA Data Analyst and Ambient Air Technician. From 2001 to 2006 he worked with RWDI, an international specialty consulting and engineering firm, where he continued to consult on various WBEA projects and initiatives. In 2007, Mr. Prasad returned to WBEA as an Air Quality Scientist for the Ambient Air Technical Program, and later assumed the roles for Program Management and Data Quality Assurance and Quality Control.

WBEA Executive Director, Dr. Kevin Percy, is pleased to welcome Mr. Prasad to his new role within the WBEA team, “I am very excited to bring Mr. Prasad on board in this new capacity. He brings with him a wealth of experience, and a solid understanding of our operations, our governance structure and partners, our stakeholders, and the Wood Buffalo region in general.”

Dr. Percy adds, “WBEA is committed to undertaking solid scientific environmental monitoring work in the RMWB, and I look forward to working with our new Director of Operations as we continue to fulfill that commitment.”

Mr. Prasad has a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science) from Royal Roads University, as well as a Diploma in Environmental Technology from Mount Royal University.
