When Kashes Potts lost his brother, he wanted something positive to come from his death.
“It’s hard for me to talk about,” said the Grade 12 Wetaskiwin Composite High School student, explaining his brother, who loved to skateboard, was killed in a gang-related shooting.
“I want to continue what he was doing.”
With that in mind, Potts and his friends developed the Thunderbird Skateboard Company with a vision to build an indoor skateboard centre in Maskwacis in a former car wash and truck stop next to the K&M and Burger Baron.
“I want to reach out to the youth and inspire them to get out of (the gangs) and make healthy choices.”
