REGINA — Greg Murdock took another step in his healing journey Tuesday.
The many types of abuse Murdock suffered during five years at a residential school, from 1957 to 1962, caused him to shut down as a boy. He was 12 when he left Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School in Kenora, Ont., and turned to drugs and alcohol as a teenager in an attempt to numb the trauma.
“Talking about it helped me to find myself again,” Murdock said.
“That same little seven-year-old boy that went there in the first place — who was quite a happy little boy — I rediscovered him when I was 21.”
