Statement – Nebraska ruling leaves Keystone XL pipeline decision up to U.S. President

9 January 2015 (Edmonton) – After today’s court ruling in Nebraska in favour of the Keystone XL pipeline, Greenpeace Climate and Energy campaigner Mike Hudema said:

“This court decision puts the Keystone pipeline back on the President’s desk and we are hopeful that he will stand up for the climate and turn down this project for good. This week’s scientific report in Nature reminded us yet again how badly Keystone fails Obama’s climate test. If we are to get serious about climate change, most of the tar sands must stay in the ground and that means a Presidential rejection of Keystone.”
