Statement from Premier Notley on the federal cabinet
Premier Rachel Notley issued the following statement on the new federal cabinet being sworn in:
“Congratulations to Prime Minister Trudeau on being sworn in as Canada’s 23rd prime minister and to the newly appointed cabinet ministers.
“Having the right people in the right roles is one of the most important decisions a leader must make. I know Alberta has benefited from having women equally represented around the cabinet table. I commend the prime minister on achieving gender balance in his cabinet.
“I’d also like to congratulate Alberta Members of Parliament, Kent Hehr, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, and Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, on your new roles. I’m confident you will be a strong voice for Alberta in the federal government.
“On behalf of everyone in my cabinet, we look forward to working with the new federal cabinet ministers to grow and diversify the economy. We’re also looking forward to working with the new federal government on climate change.”
