Spotlight: Hope for aboriginal communities – South Peace News
A message of hope and support and steps to build safer aboriginal communities was promoted during a special conference in High Prairie.
Lives of murdered or missing aboriginal women and girls across Canada led to the Keepers of the Fire Conference, Violence Against Aboriginal Girls and Women on Aug 5-6 at High Prairie Elks Rodeo Hall.
About 125 people gathered at the event hosted by Lesser Slake Lake Indian Regional Council.
“We are here today because we are a strong people,” says Dr. Patricia Makokis of Saddle Lake Cree Nation.
