Residents to decide $10,000 donation
Apr 23, 2015
Syncrude wants people who attend this weekend’s Fort McMurray Tourism Spring Show & Market at MacDonald Island Park to choose a non-profit group to receive $10,000
People who visit our booth at the trade show may cast a vote for one of four community organizations. The organization with the most votes at the end of the weekend receives $10,000.
The community groups on the ballot this year are the Justin Slade Youth Foundation, Some Other Solutions, Fort McMurray Family Crisis Society and the Fort McMurray Swim Club.
“These four organizations were selected from a long list of deserving nonprofits where our employees and retirees volunteer their time,” says Kara Flynn, Syncrude’s Vice President, Government & Public Affairs. “Syncrude matches those contributions with grants from our Good Neighbours program to invest in organizations and projects that help make our community a better place. Thanks to Syncrude employees and retirees who volunteered in 2014, we distributed $285,000 through this program.”
Updates on the voting will be posted on Syncrude’s Twitter account @SyncrudeCanada with the winner announced at the end of the trade show on Sunday, April 26.
Syncrude proudly donates $6 million annually from its Community Investment Program to organizations and initiatives working to make a positive difference in the communities where it operates.
