What was initially supposed to be an Elders lunch to meet

with our new CAO Scot Hutton, turned into much more as Chief Raymond Powder was honoured with the award of the King Charles III coronation medal.

Local MLA Tany Yao, the Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Northern Development, stepped in to make the award on behalf of our other MLA Brian Jean, the Minister of Energy and Minerals, who was unable to attend. In his speech, Tany listed some of Chief Powder’s many accomplishments, including six terms as a councillor in Fort McKay before becoming Chief in 2023. He concluded by noting that Chief Powder was an example to all of how true leadership works.
