Statement from Kendall Dilling, President, Pathways Alliance, in response to the U.S. tariffs on Canadian exports
“We are discouraged that tariffs are being imposed on Canadian goods exported to the U.S. in spite of the good-faith efforts advanced by Canada with our U.S. neighbours. Any trade dispute will hurt Canadians and Americans. Long-standing trade across all sectors has made both our countries stronger.
“As we have said before, these tariffs demonstrate the importance of diversifying Canada’s energy markets to be more resilient to trade disruptions. Our country’s inability to access new markets has left us vulnerable to these threats.
“It is time to recognize Canada’s resource potential by removing disruptive policies stalling growth in the energy sector.
“In order to endure these threats, we need every industry, including the oil sands, thriving and making vital contributions to the economy.”
