Premier Rachel Notley says she’s not ruling out a full-scale audit of the province’s books after she and other NDP cabinet ministers warned of financial skeletons in the closet left by the former Progressive Conservative government.
Notley’s NDP swept the PCs away after four decades in power in the May 5 election.
As her new cabinet held its first meetings in Calgary this week, Notley and others have suggested the government is in tougher financial shape than was suggested by former premier Jim Prentice’s government.
But Notley told reporters Thursday “it’s a bit early” to be talking about a broader audit of the government balance sheet.
