Municipality to hold Homeless Memorial December 22
(Fort McMurray, AB – December 17, 2015) – On December 22, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is holding a Homeless Memorial, in alignment with the Community Plan on Homelessness.
The Municipality invites the public to the Nistawoyou Friendship Centre from 2 – 4 p.m. to honour those who have lost their lives as a result of homelessness in the region. The event will include remarks from several community members. Light refreshments will be provided.
This event is being held as part of the Municipality’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness 2010-2020, Heading Home: The Right Thing to Do.
The Community Plan on Homelessness is a partnership with municipal, provincial and federal governments to increase services to homeless and near homeless individuals in our community. The Municipality provides funding to local agencies who coordinate services using a Housing First philosophy as identified in the Community Plan on Homelessness.
