Media Advisory – City to recognize and proclaim Métis Week in Edmonton

News media are invited to join Mayor Amarjeet Sohi and Otipemisiwak Métis Government President Andrea Sandmaier for the proclamation of this year’s Métis Week in Edmonton (November 10-16, 2024) and the signing of a new and revised Memorandum of Shared Recognition and Cooperation between the City and Otipemisiwak Métis Government.

Location: City Room, City Hall

Métis Week is recognized each year around the anniversary of the Canadian government’s execution of Métis leader Louis Riel on November 16, 1885, and is a remembrance of the ongoing struggle of the Métis for self-determination and self-government.
