APTN PARTNERS WITH RADIO STATIONS TO BROADCAST
ABORIGINAL DAY LIVE

June 14, 2017, Winnipeg, Manitoba – Live and on location from Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Yellowknife, Edmonton, and Vancouver, Aboriginal Day Live will feature some of the most recognized entertainers in Aboriginal music and television, including award-winning and those on the rise.

All Canadians are invited to join us – for the live concert featuring over 70 acts on 8 stages – on location in our host cities, via the airwaves.

Highlights include: Charlie Major, Classified, Daniel Lanois, Derek Miller, Digawolf, Don Amero, Florent Vollant, George Leach, Iskwe, LightningCloud, Nelly Furtado, Neon Dreams, Radio Radio, Taboo, Marianas Trench and Zachary Richard. For a complete lineup visit aboriqinaldaylive.ca.

Alberta: CFWE (various call numbers) will broadcast the Edmonton concert province-wide. Complete 7-hour broadcast available on Hawk Radio in Hobbema, home to Samson Cree Nation.

Manitoba: NCI FM will broadcast the Winnipeg concert province-wide (various call numbers). On location from Winnipeg — locally accessed or live streamed to Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation, Sandy Bay Radio 106.3 FM.

Ontario: Complete 7-hour broadcast available on CKRZ serving the Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation.

Saskatchewan: Complete 7-hour broadcast available to communities throughout North, Central and parts of Southern Saskatchewan on the Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Network (various call numbers). CHGL-FM 94.9 FM in the Northern Village of Green Lake and CIPI FM will broadcast the complete 7-hour concert.

British Columbia: CHLY 101.7 FM in Nanaimo will broadcast and livestream the Vancouver concert.

National: AMI-tv will carry APTN’s 7-hour live broadcast with described video from 7 p.m. ET to 2 a.m.

This year marks the largest celebration of National Aboriginal Day in Canada’s history, as eight cities across the country host performances that will be broadcast live. Tune in for seven hours of live described programming from coast to coast to coast from 7 p.m. ET to 2 a.m. ET. (6 p.m. CT to 1 a.m. CT). In 2016, the 10-year anniversary Aboriginal Day Live multi-platform broadcast reached an audience over one million.

About Aboriginal Day Live Aboriginal Day Live is held annually since 2007 and is the largest celebration of National Aboriginal Day, a celebration of Aboriginal Peoples’ cultures and heritage and the summer solstice in Canada. It was first celebrated on June 21, 1996, after being recognized through a proclamation by then Governor General Romeo LeBlanc. National Aboriginal Day is part of the Celebrate Canada program, though most provinces do not recognize it as a statutory holiday.
