Portage College students are gaining real-world marketing experience through local businesses.
This year marks the beginning of Portage College’s Marketing Program partnership with the Rural Alberta Business Centre (RABC).
Portage College and the RABC joined forces to create a new hands-on learning experience for marketing students.
“Beverly Lockett, the instructor of business administration, contacted me around middle of October and she asked if we wanted to link up and I said absolutely it’s a fantastic idea,” said Kathryn Hotte, small business advisor at the RABC.
The marketing course matched up 17 students with seven local businesses.
“It was originally intended just for the incubators because we want to assist these business incubators as much as possible. But currently we only have two incubators so we extended the collaboration to involve other businesses as well,” said Hotte.
