August 27, 2015
Many special guests, students, and dignitaries were in attendance for the official opening ceremony of the new Energy Centre at Lakeland College.
The ribbon cutting and public guided tours took place on Wednesday afternoon at the new facility that is the only post-secondary institution in Western Canada to create an integrated power plant featuring a once-through steam generator (OTSG) for heavy oil training, which will allow Lakeland College students to produce functional energy.
The ribbon cutting was preceded by a dinner at the college cafeteria where special guests such as CEO and Lakeland College president Alice Wainwright-Stewart made speeches regarding the opening of the facility.
