Laboucan enjoys Aboriginal Hockey Championships – Peace River Record
May 26, 2015
Nicholas Laboucan, 16-year-old Peace High student, was scouted for the Alberta Native Hockey team. The team traveled to Halifax from April 25 to May 3 where they won silver at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships.
“It was a great experience going to Halifax and representing Alberta,” said Laboucan, who’s played hockey since elementary school. “There was a lot of scouting staff there and you had to work hard every second; there was always someone watching out in the stands.
“It was fast, hard-hitting hockey. During the first game, no matter what level of hockey you were used to playing, you had to adjust.”
Upon arriving in Halifax, team Alberta was ranked third overall in the championships.
