In 2004, Julian Black Antelope had just finished working at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump when two career opportunities arose.
The first was a job offer in oil and gas. The second was to work in the film industry. But there was a significant catch.
“I was super broke. I was three months behind in rent and I had a phone number to go work in the oilfield and make $10,000 a month, or I could phone this other number and make $10 an hour doing background,” says Black Antelope. “I chose that one. That’s me: Pick the harder road.
