Janvier one of Alberta’s 50 most influential people – The Cold Lake Sun

What do Premier Rachel Notley, Defence Minister Jason Kenney and Cold Lake First Nations artist Alex Janvier all have in common?

They were all included in a list of ‘Alberta’s 50 Most Influential People’ that Alberta Venture Magazine released earlier this month.

This was Janvier’s second time being included in the annual list – the first was in 2009.

“Before that you’re just a number in Canada, so it gives me satisfaction to be included in that list,” said Janvier.

Born of Denesuline and Saulteaux descent in 1935, Janvier began experimenting with art as a young child and he’s now been working in the professional art industry for several decades.
