Flames set to host third annual Indigenous Celebration night this Saturday – CJWE

While the Calgary Flames are set to host the LA Kings this Saturday, the game will also give sports fans across the world a glimpse of Indigenous culture in Southern Alberta.

For the past three years, the Flames have hosted an Indigenous Celebration night highlighting the unique culture of Treaty 7.

Each year, a theme is chosen as a way to spotlight individuals within the community and this year’s theme will be centered around women and language.

Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation Indigenous Advisor Brent Dodging Horse explains to CJWE the game’s undertone of healing that will be on full display during one of the intermissions.
