For nearly 25 years, the Esquao Awards, hosted by the Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women, has highlighted the amazing work of Indigenous women throughout Alberta and Canada

The 26th annual Esquao awards return Friday night at the River Cree Resort and Casino Entertainment centre.

Since it’s humble beginnings in 1996, the Esquao Awards have grown to be the single largest recognition event of Indigenous women in the country. To date 493 women have received Esquao Awards, from over 90 communities.

The opening ceremony starts at 5:00pm
