Canadian North marks the start of codeshare agreement with major schedule enhancements
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 27, 2015 – Calgary AB –Today, in conjunction with the start of a new codeshare agreement, Canadian North is pleased to launch major enhancements to its northern route network, including:
- Morning AND afternoon departures from Ottawa to Iqaluit
- Daily direct Boeing jet service between Yellowknife and Cambridge Bay
- Non-stop Boeing 737-300 service between Yellowknife and Inuvik on Mondays and Fridays
- A Monday morning flight from Yellowknife to Edmonton
These schedule enhancements are the direct result of the implementation of the codeshare agreement with First Air and will significantly benefit our customers.
The codeshare agreement allows each airline to sell seats on certain flights in each other’s respective networks. By sharing space on selected flights, Canadian North can serve its customers more effectively by offering increased flight choices and improved connections to, from and across the north. The agreement also allows Canadian North to improve its operational efficiency by giving it the ability to tailor capacity to meet changing market needs.
“These enhancements represent an important milestone in Canadian North’s history of innovation,” said Steve Hankirk, President of Canadian North. “We entered into a codeshare agreement to better serve our customers and improve the sustainability of our scheduled service operations. We’re very pleased to implement a new schedule that will create immediate benefits for our northern customers.”
For our customers, with today’s implementation of the codeshare agreement it is simply business as usual. Reservations can continue to be made on all booking channels, and for passengers checking-in, updated signage is in place at airports to direct them to appropriate check-in counters.
