Lauren Krugel will report on TransCanada’s Q3 results and its conference call at 11 a.m. ET. This comes after the company announced last night it is applying to the U.S. government to suspend its application for Keystone.

Lauren is also going to update our story on a forecast by the Petroleum Services Association of Canada on drilling prospects for next year. Their update comes out at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Andy Blatchford has a story today on how calls for further Bombardier bailouts will serve as one of the first tests for the incoming federal Liberal government.

Ross Marowits will report on WestJet, which is reporting record quarterly earnings again. He is also monitoring a presentation by Bombardier in Toronto on its Global 7000/8000 program. A story will move if warranted.

Alexandra Posadzki is looking into a report that RBC has eliminated limits on mortgages for immigrants.

CALGARY _ TransCanada Corp. says its third-quarter profit was down from the same time last year as it received lower contributions from its Bruce Power and Western Power electricity generation operations and a small charge related to corporate restructuring.The Calgary-based company’s net income was $402 million or 57 cents per share, which was down $55 million from the same time last year. WestJet Q3 profit soars to record high

CALGARY _ WestJet Airlines Ltd. (TSX:WJA) says it had a $101.8-million profit in the third quarter or 82 cents per share, on both a reported and adjusted basis. That’s up from 40 cents per share of net income and 66 cents per share of adjusted earnings for the third quarter of 2014. Analysts had estimated 75 cents per share of adjusted earnings. Xi says China’s economy should grow 6.5 per cent annually

BEIJING _ President Xi Jinping said Tuesday that China needs at least 6.5 per cent economic growth in coming years to become “moderately prosperous.” The ruling Communist Party also announced plans to let the country’s tightly controlled currency trade freely by 2020.The announcements follow a high-level planning meeting last week at which ruling party leaders promised to make the world’s second-largest economy more productive and to raise living standards.
