ASIRT investigations concluded on three files

On June 6, 2020, pursuant to Sec. 46.1 of the Police Act, ASIRT was directed to investigate an allegation of assault involving Fort McMurray RCMP officers.

On Aug. 14, 2021, ASIRT was directed to investigate a fatal RCMP officer-involved shooting near Rocky Mountain House.

On Jan. 10, 2022, ASIRT was directed to investigate the death of a man in custody of the St. Paul RCMP.

ASIRT’s mandate is to effectively, independently and objectively investigate incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person, as well as serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct.
