ASIRT concludes investigations on three files

On March 6, 2020, pursuant to Sec. 46.1 of the Police Act, ASIRT was directed to investigate a serious-injury, single-vehicle collision following RCMP contact near Chipman.

On May 6, 2020, ASIRT was directed to investigate a fatal RCMP officer-involved shooting near Leduc.

On March 9, 2022, ASIRT was directed to investigate an RCMP officer-involved shooting on Kehewin Cree Nation.

ASIRT’s mandate is to effectively, independently and objectively investigate incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person, as well as serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct.
