Albertans recognized for preventing family violence

by ahnationtalk on November 16, 2015581 Views

Inspiration Award winners are dedicated to stopping the cycle of violence and abuse in their communities.

The Inspiration Awards recognize individuals for their outstanding commitment and leadership in family violence and sexual violence prevention.

“These dedicated Albertans are working each and every day to prevent and support those affected by family violence in our province. They set an extraordinary example for others to take action. I am honoured to recognize these outstanding individuals and organizations.”
Irfan Sabir, Minister of Human Services

2015 Inspiration Awards

Awards are given out in four prevention categories: family violence, sexual violence, child sexual abuse, and bullying– for individuals and for groups. In addition, there is a lifetime achievement recognition award. Recipients are nominated by their peers and are chosen by a committee comprised of members of the community.

The 2015 recipients include Albertans from a range of backgrounds across the province.

The government established the awards in 2012 to acknowledge those who go above and beyond, and recognize the inspiration they provide to others to take action and make a difference.

The Inspiration Awards ceremony is held each November during Alberta’s Family Violence Prevention Month.
