Fifth Annual Louis Riel Commemorative Walk

In honour of Louis Riel, the 6.6 km walk to St. Margaret’s Church is to signify the procession made by Riel’s family, community and Metis soldiers to Riel’s funeral.

  • The event begins at 10:00 am, followed by Mass at St. Margaret’s Church at 12:00 pm. The Walk will be led by horse and buggy rides.

Honourable Louis Riel Commemoration

Metis people across Canada pay tribute to Honorable Louis Riel by holding a commemorative ceremony on the date of his execution, November 16.

Metis Nation of Alberta Association Open House

  • The Metis Nation of Alberta’s Association (MNAA) Open House is scheduled from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The MNAA Provincial Office is located at 11738 Kingsway Avenue in Edmonton.
  • The annual open house will feature an artistic display of various Metis artists and showcase the talents of aspiring young Metis artists with a lapel pin art contest.

Metis Week 2015 Proclamation and Metis Flag Raising Ceremony

  • Each year, the MNAA Region 4 and the City of Edmonton host a proclamation and Metis Flag raising ceremony in honour of Metis Week.

Seniors Come and Go Tea / Metis Genealogy Open House

To round off Metis Week 2015, the MNAA is hosting a fun social event – a box social and jam (session)! Guests are encouraged to bring their musical instruments. Guests participating in the box social dinner should drop off their boxed lunch, with enough to serve two people, by 6:00 pm. The event is scheduled as follows:
