Alberta man charged with assault after Indigenous man beaten, car rear-ended – Todayville
AIRDRIE, Alta. — RCMP in southern Alberta have laid charges following allegations by an Indigenous man who says his car was rear-ended and he was beaten while an attacker shouted racist slurs at him and his wife.
Mounties say they received a call about an assault just before 11 p.m. Thursday at a gas station in Airdrie, just north of Calgary.
Telly Bear says he and his wife, Judy, were heading home from a funeral in Saskatchewan when a white man with face tattoos pulled up next to them.
Bear says the man used racist language and said, “You think you can just park anywhere?” before telling them to get out of Airdrie.
