Alberta giving grants to raise awareness of dangers of fentanyl and other drugs

Proceeds of Crime grants will be available to police and their community partners to raise drug awareness and prevention.

Proceeds of Crime grants are supported with funds forfeited to the province following federally-prosecuted Criminal Code offences. They are available to police agencies throughout the province and helps fund police drug prevention and awareness programming with community partners.

These grants will help our law enforcement partners increase awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and other street drugs through prevention and awareness initiatives. The Proceeds of Crime Fund is a joint provincial-federal fund directed specifically at law enforcement for activities relating to crime prevention and drug education. The total funding available is $220,000, with a maximum of $20,000 per project for an 18-month period.

Information about this funding will be distributed to law enforcement agencies. The agencies can also contact the Crime Prevention and Restorative Justice Unit at 780-415-1819 for more information. Proposals will be reviewed by an impartial review committee.
