Waste Management Specialist Manager

Position Background:

The Waste Management Specialist will establish Ketek Group Inc.’s (Ketek) international waste management projects with various global partners. This Specialist will enhance the value of Ketek’s operating business units, and that of their Clients or Subsidiaries, with innovative waste disposal options. The focus for the Waste Management Specialist will be to evaluate reduction, reuse, recycle, recovery, and safe disposal methods for their optimum economic value, while adhering to expectations and requirements of local and international Clients.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to identify and quantify waste sources, and propose management options
  • Coordination of waste management systems across multi-sectors including hazardous waste generators
  • Develop Ketek’s waste management capability (business studies, design, fabrication, installation and advisory services)
  • Lead research of waste strategies for Ketek products and services
  • Manage Ketek’s waste-derived fuel project as a greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction in the manufacture of cement
  • Manage solid or liquid waste collection and disposal systems, and ensure safe operation of disposal facilities
  • Plan and coordinate various waste management and recycling business options with Canadian and international Clients
  • Professional consulting (Strategic Planning) for compliance with waste regulations across Canada and internationally
  • Represent Ketek in a light that is commensurate with the values of Management and the Corporate Vision and Mission Statements
  • Specialist industrial waste inspections of operations that include:
    • Waste reduction at source
    • Recycling and disposal
    • Energy from waste
    • Waste as an alternative fuel

Working Conditions:

Working from Ketek’s corporate office (Edmonton) with:

  • Internal divisions for sales, operations, and design teams with industrial clients in the Oil and Gas, Mining, Industrial (Cement/Plastics/Forest Products) and Municipal sectors
  • Ketek’s Clients for in-field delivery of advisory services and waste assessments that include:

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science and/or Business Management
  • Experience with public health, environmental assessment and hazardous waste management
  • Experience within an operating waste management business
  • International Waste Management Business (Sales and Marketing) experience
  • Knowledge and experience with various ERP systems
  • Strong written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills across all levels of an organization
