The Role:

As the National Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of our strategy to engage volunteers across Canada and be responsible for supporting the growth of our national volunteer program including the recruitment, screening, selection, coordination, supervision and stewardship of volunteers.  The incumbent will work closely with our field operations staff, corporate partners, community groups to ensure that all volunteer engagement activity is well-executed and meets the high-quality standards for Second Harvest’s volunteer experience.

Your Impact:

  • Recruit, screen, train, and supervise volunteers as the program grows nationally.
  • Build and maintain an active roster of community-based volunteers in key markets to support organizational goals.
  • Act as the main liaison between field operations staff and volunteers, ensuring smooth coordination and satisfaction.
  • Plan and execute volunteer logistics for national events, community activities, and corporate engagement initiatives.
  • Lead volunteer appreciation efforts, including National Volunteer Week activities and special events.
  • Maintain accurate records in Raiser’s Edge, contributing to reports on volunteer hours, program outcomes, and KPIs.
  • Evaluate the Volunteer Program regularly for efficiency and growth opportunities, supporting strategic planning initiatives.

  • Bilingual: Fluency in English and French is a strong asset.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the not-for-profit sector, with volunteer services programs, special events programs and their management and administration.
  • Post-secondary education and/or experience in volunteer management, human resources, social work, or similar field is preferred.
