About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Presented by the  John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights and the Sixties Scoop Indigenous Society of Alberta (SSISA) in collaboration with Damian Abrahams, Indigital Media of Edmonton.

Join us for a special screening of the Director’s Cut of We Were Taken, a powerful documentary filmed in May 2023 during a healing gathering of Sixties Scoop survivors in Kananaskis, Alberta.

We Were Taken intimately explores the lived experiences of Indigenous individuals who were removed from their families during the Sixties Scoop and placed in adoptive homes. With compassion and care, the film sheds light on their journeys of grief, understanding, and healing—amplifying voices that reclaim identity and culture across generations.

This event offers an opportunity to witness stories of resilience and reconnection and to reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonial systems in Canada.
