Join us on Monday, June 9, for Heritage Calgary’s Report to the Community at the Central Library – Patricia A. Whelan Performance Hall 2-4 pm.
Doors to the Performance Hall will open at 1:30 pm with the presentation starting at 2 pm.
As part of the event, we will discuss “why recognition matters.” We will be joined by past Heritage Calgary Award winners from the University of Calgary, the 40 Mile Coat Project, and the City of Calgary’s Parks Department who will share stories from their award-winning projects and updates for what’s next.
Following the formal event, you are invited to join us for refreshments and networking.
Panel Discussion Bios
Moderator
Cynthia Klaassen is the Heritage Resources Program Manager for Heritage Calgary. Responsible for oversight of the “Inventory of Evaluated Historic Resources” which lists over 950 sites of historical significance in Calgary, she works with heritage property owners to research and list new sites on the Inventory. She works closely with the Heritage Calgary team to plan public events and works with developers and designers to create commemorative plaques and features to share stories and promote Calgary’s history. As a Heritage and Museum professional, she previously worked at the National Music Centre and Fort Calgary. Cynthia currently serves on the Board of the Alexandra Centre Society and is Past President of the Calgary Heritage Initiative Society (CHI) and Founding President of Doors Open Calgary.
