Celebrate Indigenous culture – Wetaskiwin Times

This week is a chance to celebrate and learn more about the cultural diversity of Canada’s First Nations people with several events going on to celebrate Nation Indigenous Peoples Day.

On Wednesday June 19, there will be events, including dancing, drumming and bannock at the Wetaskiwin Memorial Arts Centre from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

On June 21, there will be a celebration at Maskwa Park on the Ermineskin Reserve.

The event kicks off with the Maskwacis Education Schools Council Year End Pow wow from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. with competition powwow, trade fair and food.

There will be children’s activities, wagon rides and face painting from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
