ATCO Structures & Logistics (ATCO) has been awarded a contract by TransCanada PipeLines Limited (TransCanada) to design, build and operate a 150-person workforce accommodations lodge that will house workers constructing the Otter Lake Compressor Station in the Peace River region of Alberta. The lodge is scheduled to open in January 2015 and will house workers until January 2016.

The lodge will be constructed using ATCO’s next-generation modular fleet that features contemporary interior upgrades including a modern colour palette, walk-in closets and ensuite bathrooms as well as an environmentally-progressive carpet tile that traps airborne allergens and irritants and has a major impact on noise suppression.

The project will also contribute to local economic growth and capacity building through ATCO’s joint-venture partnership with the Woodland Cree First Nation (WCFN). The partners previously worked together on the Shell Carmon Creek Project.

“We look forward to working with the Woodland Cree First Nation on yet another project in their traditional territory,” said George Lidgett, President, ATCO Structures & Logistics. “The award of this contract is a testament to a thriving partnership that provides top-notch services for remote workers, while benefitting the local community.”

ATCO and the WCFN will be working together to provide camp services for this project including camp management, catering, housekeeping and janitorial. This partnership has been structured in a way that will allow the WCFN to participate in all facets of the construction and operation of the facility.

“The TransCanada lodge is a good economic opportunity for the Woodland Cree First Nation,” said Chief Isaac Laboucan-Avirom of the WCFN. “Our JV partnership with ATCO works towards our goal of establishing an active and healthy business community that can serve the Peace River region and create local jobs.”
